Must-Have Tips for a Standout Fresher Resume

Here are 7 golden rules I share with every student and job seeker I’ve mentored:

Avoid cliché phrases like “hardworking and dedicated”—everyone writes that.

Use action verbs like “designed,” “led,” “built,” “analysed”

Customise your resume for each job role. Don’t send the same PDF everywhere.

Limit to 1 page unless you have exceptional experience

Use bullet points under each internship or project—no long paragraphs

Proofread twice. Typos scream carelessness.

Save as PDF with a clean file name like Priya_Shah_Resume.pdf

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I include college projects as experience?

Absolutely! For freshers, academic projects are often the highlight of the resume. Just present them like job roles—with outcomes and tools used.

Should I add a photo on my resume?

In India, it’s optional. Some sectors like teaching prefer it. Corporate/MNCs usually don’t require it unless asked.

I don’t have any internships. What do I do?

No problem. Highlight online certifications, academic projects, volunteer work, or even self-taught projects like blogging or coding apps.

Perfect Resume vs. Average Resume

A perfect resume is tailored, clear, and highlights real skills and projects, while an average resume is generic, vague, and often ignored by recruiters.
